Making changes to your lifestyle… as rewarding as it is, can definitely have its challenges. We all want to see those results at the end, but sometimes, sticking to the plan can feel really tough. Not all of us are blessed with an unwavering dedication – for some of us, 8 weeks of solid consistency is actually pretty hard… So when times do feel tough and your motivation drops, what are you supposed to do? Give up? Put your want for amazing results aside? Let’s get real, nobody actually wants to do that. You started a challenge for a reason and you want to finish it. Just knowing how the entire 8 week period can feel can be really empowering in those low moments.Weeks 1-2: “Yes! I can do this! I’m going to be a whole new me by week 8, just watch and see..! Meal prep, workouts and stretching to stay loosey goosey – I’m all over it.” You’ll be starting to feel lighter, healthier and notice any bloating subside. As a result, your motivation is at an all time high, now that you’ve seen a change and you’re excited for even better results to come.Weeks 3-4: “Oh, I’m not even at the half way mark yet… and it’s already starting to feel hard. One piece of cake won’t make a difference.” Your results will be slowly revealing themselves at this stage. So, as it can be a little slow, you can begin to wonder if it’s working (trust us, it is!). Your motivation can start to drop as you want things to ‘hurry up,’ as you begin to realise the level of effort, dedication and focus you really need to complete the challenge. Just know this ‘hard patch’ is temporary. Stay the course. Your results depend on it.Weeks 5-6: “I’m so glad I didn’t completely screw myself over last week. I’m pretty sure I can do this, only a couple of weeks to go.” If you didn’t deviate toomuch in weeks 3-4, you’ll be starting to see some pretty serious results, which you’ll definitely be excited about! This will really motivate you, along with the fact that you’ve got most of the 8 weeks under your belt.Weeks 7-8: “Omg I cant believe how different I look! I feel freshhhh, too. Nearly at the end and I’ve actually done it! Me! I’ve actually done it!” Your results will be starting to accelerate and snowball, so you’ll be able to see a huge difference in how you look and feel, compared with Week 1. You’ll be so excited about how much you’ve changed, with only days left to go! Plus, you’ll be so proud of yourself for making it this far and you’ll see that getting amazing results is totally something you are capable of.So, now you know how your motivation can change across 8 weeks (and know that it’s totally normal!). But you now know something else: you know there’s one thing that will get you through, no matter your level of motivation. And that’s persistence. You can’t let your brain get in your way and f*ck you and your progress up. You’ve got to ignore the negative thoughts in any hard patches you come across and just keep moving forward. So, stay the course, keep scheduling your workouts, prepping your meals and just focusing on one day at a time. Your motivation levels won’t always be low – they’ll grow soon, and how good would it be to feel motivated again, knowing that you’re still on track and you didn’t take the easy way out?Because remember…the longer something takes to achieve, the better you’ll feel when you achieve it. Give yourself time. Stay the course. And watch your body transform before your eyes.Don’t stand in your own way babe, you’ve got this!
